Idaho Fishing and Game
Land Conservation, and Development Information
Over the years, we’ve had some productive discussions with Idaho fishing and game enthusiasts, recreational outdoor sports fans, and many neighboring businesses and individuals who are concerned about how we’re managing DF Development land. We’ve developed this page of questions and answers to provide some in-depth, comprehensive information that we hope will help provide some transparency for our local friends, partner organizations, and potential buyers.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
We’re employing comprehensive sustainable practices based on Idaho Forest Practices Act guidelines. Our strategies include selective timber harvesting to preserve forest structure, riparian buffer zones to protect waterways, and regular monitoring of soil and water quality. We also look to Sustainable Forestry Initiative Idaho for expert guidance on practices such as reforestation with native species and controlled burns to maintain ecosystem health. We are dedicated to working closely with local stakeholders to ensure our efforts align with the environmental values of our community.

While we don’t maintain certifications, all our reforestation and conservation efforts align with the recommendations of the Idaho Department of Lands Forest Stewardship Program. Additionally, we follow the recommendations of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), ensuring that our forest management promotes biodiversity and protects water resources. Our commitment to restorative land management also aligns with public lands conservation efforts by the Idaho Conservation League, reinforcing our dedication to environmentally friendly practices and supporting outdoor recreational activities.
We protect wildlife habitats by preserving critical areas, implementing buffer zones, and following Idaho Fish and Game’s guidelines. Our approach includes habitat restoration and creating wildlife corridors to ensure connectivity. We work closely with local biologists to adapt plans as needed to safeguard native species.
To prevent erosion and water pollution, we maintain riparian buffer zones, and implement erosion control best practices. We conduct regular water quality testing and protect natural springs through conservation easements. Our strategies align with Idaho Department of Environmental Quality guidelines to preserve water resources and riparian health.
We actively involve local communities by hosting educational workshops, tree planting activities, and sporting events. We maintain memberships in local Chambers of Commerce, collaborate with community organizations, and provide updates on our projects to ensure inclusive and transparent sustainability efforts.
Our long-term plan includes continuous ecological monitoring, adaptive management strategies, and regular collaboration with local experts. We prioritize habitat restoration, sustainable forestry practices, and conservation easements to protect key areas, ensuring the land’s environmental health for future generations and aligning with community ecological values. We’ve set aside certain zones as non-development areas to protect essential watersheds and wildlife habitat for future generations.
We monitor environmental impact daily, monthly, and quarterly, using metrics such as water quality, soil health, biodiversity counts, and forest regeneration rates. This regular assessment ensures our practices remain sustainable and responsive to local ecosystem needs, reflecting our commitment to environmental stewardship and community trust.
We ask that future buyers adhere to sustainable practices, and we provide educational resources on responsible development. Certain contiguous areas are preserved for non-development to protect habitats and watersheds, ensuring long-term ecological integrity and aligning with our stewardship values.
DF Development’s onsite staff specialize in integrated pest management for controlling noxious weeds. We approach invasive plant control two ways: mechanical removal (pulling weeds, mowing, and grazing practices), and chemical removal (herbicide spraying). We combine these strategies to provide comprehensive, sustainable solutions for managing invasive species. Visit InvasiveSpecies.Idaho.Gov to learn more about what you can do to help us keep wild Idaho beautiful, and free of noxious weeds.
